The purpose of the Van Wert Optimist Club is to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world. “Providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in the youth, our communities and ourselves.” Our mission statement says it all. Not only do you position yourself to make an impact in the lives of area youth, but you also align yourself with like-minded professionals in the area. It’s a perfect blend of making a difference, and growing personally and professionally.

The Optimist Club of Van Wert is proud to bring you the Avenue of Flags program.
Our goal is to display national and civic pride, promote appreciation for our veterans, and raise funds to support our local youth programs.
Will you join us by participating in this exciting program?
We invite you to participate in our patriotic community service program and fundraiser called the Avenue of Flags. It is a wonderful way to honor our troops and help us support our youth programs and activities.
We will place a 3’ by 5’ high-quality American flag on a 10’ flagpole within 15’ of the curb in front of
your home or business for the following days surrounding five national holidays:
- Memorial Day
- Flag Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veterans Day
For $55/yr. we deliver and place your flag prior to each holiday and retrieve after the holiday. If you wish to display more than one flag at the same address, you receive a $10.00 discount per flag!
Remember, the Optimist Club of Van Wert is responsible for replacement of the flag and proper storage after the flags have been retrieved.

The Optimist Club of Van Wert has been proudly serving the Van Wert County area since the 1980s. We are comprised of men and women dedicated to the community, friendship, fun, service to youth and the promotion of Optimist as a way of life.
